2014 ids preview

I am beyond excited for the Interior Design Show opening night party tonight. This is one of the design events to go to because you can see all the top suppliers and retailers all at once, get to know them personally and there is always lots going on. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, you can get one online here or at the door.

Right away Cocoon Furnishings caught my eye. Their showroom is located Oakville and this evening they will be launching the Aerin Lauder collection that will be exclusive to their showroom in Canada. Their booth is absolutely breathtaking. They combined pieces from Aerin's collection with other items from their store.

This vintage Persian rug has been bleached in the sun and over-died to be a vibrant green. It looks absolutely stunning against this gold-leaf mirror!

This Aerin server has a stone top - such a good idea! This would keep me worry free from scratches and glass rings.

Anytime I have a painting project, my go-to is PARA Paints. There are really friendly and their paint is awesome and it's made in Canada (plus they love working with bloggers!) Be sure to stop by their booth tonight for a little gift and their 2014 Colour Trends passport book.

See you tonight!

toronto interior design show party 2013

Last night I attended the Interior Design Show party with some friends. We were amazed at the great exhibits and the wonderful fellow designers. Events like this are perfect for running into people you haven't seen in awhile and is always a great opportunity to network and meet new people. Below are a few images of our evening.

Lianne, Brandon and myself playing with this giant table at the Benjamin Moore booth!
Too funny that we had a class earlier today on this with Mark-Anthony at Humber College!

No doubt IKEA had a spectacular booth again this year! Above is an industrial kitchen with an over-sized island, gigantic windows and ceiling filled with modern lighting fixtures.

This bathroom really was a show stopper. The vintage copper tub really took my breath away!

Lovely artistic painted wall of lumber in the spaces.

This vintage snowmobile at the Gus* booth was so much fun!
With all of this snow lately, it would be a dream to drive around on one of these.

I absolutely can't get enough of these Tom Dixon Etch Web lights.
See them on the blog here

These pulled-pork wraps were delicious!

Discovered this great vintage lighting company called Eclectic Revival in Toronto.
They create these lighting fixtures from vintage pieces!

Always a pleasure catching up with Emmanuel
He just started a new jewellery line called Floro - congratulations!

Earth Inc always has an eco friendly booth with lots of greenery and wood.
This fire container was from the original Campbell's Soup factory!

I was able to have a few words with Mark McEwan from Top Chef Canada!

The after party at the Thompson hotel was lots of fun!
Great DJ and delicious complimentary drinks - don't you just love this back wall?

IDS: opening night party

The opening night party at IDS was fun, interesting and full of fabulous décor and design ideas!

This beautiful art piece is named "Peacock" and was made from one piece of Dupont Corian. Fantastic!
Designed by UUfie

Hauser never fails to impress with its beautiful, traditional and Canadian craftsmanship.

The brushed gold on the chandelier and range hood from Bloomsbury Fine Cabinetry
is a very up to date and has an elegant look!

Karim Rashid was DJ'ing in "the cage" - he was so great!

Alfred Sung Outdoor had great patio furniture.

This room designed by Taylor Hannah is very fresh, exciting
and of course has this years colour - orange!

Great art piece by 18 Karat has cool grays and a few pops of orange!

I absolutely love this space! This water fall table would be great to have on you patio if you were living in an urban condo and missed "your home and native land" by the water. Make this your serenity.
Designed by Mason

Great pod for your pad!

Great rustic cargo containers are re-used as an urban "space".
Each cubical has a room decorated by a designer.

Continuing with the urban feel, the surrounding gardens are filled with vegetables and herbs
making this a very sustainable living environment.

IDS white tulips & chandelier

Tonight is the opening party for the Toronto Interior Design Show. Of course, there is always lots of wonderful decor and design items to see. I came across the Living Lighting booth with a stunning chandelier with white tulips beneath it! Love this.
