The changing of the guards is a free daily event (weather permitting) at 11am where the guards march to the Royal Palace and swap places. I could not believe how many people were there! I arrived about an hour early and I felt like the last person to arrive. Every square inch of brick you could stand on was covered with people.

This truly is a magical experience and something I highly recommend. If you look closely, you might be able to see the Queen! Rumour has it that she watches from her window from time to time.

Abbey Road

Julius, Susie and I took a stroll down Abbey Road and re-enacted the the classic Beatles album for "Abbey Road" which was shot in 1969. Notice I'm not wearing shoes just like Paul McCartney! 

Tower of London 

Visiting the Tower of London was like stepping back into time! You are able to walk along and in the walls and see dungeons where they kept prisoners back in the day. There were carvings on the brick in the dungeons from the prisoners - creepy! Apparently they would bring in exotic animals and have them run around like monkeys, lions and bears! 

My most favourite part of visiting the Tower of London was the Crown Jewels! There was an enormous collection of diamonds and jewels from the royal family. Each room glittered beyond belief.

So thankful for my Orthaheel sandals I'm wearing in the picture above! I've walked nearly all around Europe in these and could not be more thankful. 

Victoria & Albert (V&A) Museum

I bought a beautiful  V&A water bottle, hammer and screwdriver set from the Jacaranda Tree in Toronto years ago and to this day still adore them. Why do you ask? Because of the classic V&A pattern of course! This museum is filled with jewellery, fashion, fabrics and much more. There was a special David Bowie exhibit which looked incredible!

British Museum 

I am so fascinated by Ancient Egypt, the design looks as gorgeous today as it must have did then. We had a great time roaming around the British Museum looking at all of the wonder artifacts. 

London Eye

If you are looking for an incredible view of London, take a ride around the London Eye. It takes about 30 minutes to go all the way around and well worth it to go on a nice sunny day. 

While walking along the river, we saw these adorable baby ducks snuggling under their mothers feathers!

split, croatia | the zoo, views + markets

This beautiful place is covered in marble, has a stunning waterfront and loads of shops and delicious restaurants. During our time here the weather wasn't the warmest or dryest but luckily we had our MEC rain gear to help us trek around town!

We walked up the steps to Marjan which leads to the zoo and has magificent views of the city all the way up! The zoo was 10 kunas and we got to see a lion, an ostrich, monkeys, a bear, goats, reindeer, lots of birds, lambs, bunnies and much more. The bunnies were so cute and there were so many both babies and mamas and papas! It didn't look like they had any food so we fed them a leaf or two or ten.

Just a bit further up from the zoo is the highest point along the path to Marjan. 
 Here you will find a beautiful view of the city!

There is a massive market in the middle of the city! You can buy fresh cheese, meat, vegetables, fruit, flowers, olives and nuts! We got a few things to make our own charcuterie plate! It was all so fresh and delicious accompanied with a glass of red wine!

ios, greece | atv trip to homer's tomb

Today Susie and I rented ATVs with our new Australian friend Amy! We drove all around the island, up and down the hills. We went through beautiful valleys with vineyards and there are donkeys and goats everywhere! 

I highly recommend renting an ATV while you are in Greece. They range from 15 - 18 euro per ATV including helmets but the price of gas is extra. Look for a place that lets you rent it for 24 hours to maximize your time on it. The two of us where driving all day and only had to fill up at the beginning of our trip!

Beautiful view from the top of the mountain above the Farout beach!

On our way to Homer's tomb, there was a little farm with goats and donkeys! There were no building anywhere around and the farmer was there feeding them when we drove by! 

Here I am in front of Homer's tomb! He was a famous Greek poet who wrote The Odyssey and The Iliad. Legend has it that he was buried here but there is no proof. Wonder where he was burried? 

The long ride up and over the mountain to the other side of the island was well worth it for this beautiful view!

We ran into rush hour in the countryside!

It's hard to see at first but if you look closely there were over a hundred goats wondering around the mountain!

style at home ikea kitchen makeover

Erin McLaughlin, editor in chief of Style at Home Magazine, had her kitchen re-vamped head to toe in IKEA. Breath easy in this newly renovated serene kitchen of while marble, stainless steel appliances,  a charming eating area and a modern fireplace with comfy seating. IKEA has truly been able to catch up to their competitors and produce products which look amazing without breaking the bank.
