sweet swedish spot

There is something so right on about Swedish design. Maybe it's the simplicity in the colour palette or clean and smooth lines? Whatever it is, I love it. If you would like to mimic the style of this home, start with a few key pieces in earth toned colours and accessorize lightly with a few favourite pieces. The key point to remember is less is more.

How awesome is this memo board! Looks like the homeowner found vintage metal fences and placed big clips to attach pictures and notes to it.

Giveaway :: Pink Gifts from The Jacaranda Tree & Co

The Jacaranda Tree is one of my most favourite stores because there is always something I can find for myself and the perfect place for a hostess gift. The store is shimmering in sparkly Christmas ornaments during the holidays and lots of chatter amongst the customers. What's so unique about the Jacaranda Tree is that the wooden floors squeak - how many stores do you know have that kind of charm?

The ladies at the Jacaranda Tree were so kind to gather up an assortment of pink items for a giveaway!

The value of this gift is $110.

This tea from Sloane Tea Company is amazing! For starters look at the packaging, stunning right? They also have a great selection of delicious flavours! If you have been to the Art Gallery of Ontario and eaten at their cafe on the second floor, you may notice that they only serve this tea!

Look at their website, you will instantly fall in love! www.sloanetea.com

retro modern nursery

I've always imagined nurseries to be simple, white and serene until I started blogging. Why? Bloggers (and Pinterest) have opened my eyes to a whole new world of design. So, why don't you make your babies room just as hip and happening as the rest of your home? Start with dramatic wallpaper and paint to accompany it. Dress the room with soft furnishings and creative bold accents like lighting and artwork.

Get all the other babies (and moms) talking at the playground about your nursery!

masculine monday | calgary home

This Calgary home featured in the October 2012 issue of Style at Home is a masculine one. The family has kept to whites, woods and blacks as their base colour palette for every room. This has given them lots of ways to play around with patterns, shapes and accessories.

A whole chalkboard wall in the dining room? Love it!

This small space really has a big feel with a neutral colour palette, playful patterns and friendly arrangement of picture frames used as an accent wall.

aspen chalet

Canada is known for its great white winters, but nothing sounds more winterlicious then spending time at an Aspen chalet! This architecturally beautiful home has everything you could ask for - stunning views, spacious living and lots of wood and stone. This looks like the perfect spot for a family vacation over the holidays!

chevron vs herringbone floors

Although Chevron + Herringbone floors look similar, there really is a difference between them. The Chevron pattern runs flush to the next floor board where as Herringbone overlaps. Which one pattern is your favourite?

Cuddle up this lovely winter weekend with a loved one and deck yourself out in plaid and tartan! Get nice and cozy under a blanket in front of a roasting fire and sip on a cup of hot chocolate. Happy Sunday!

Wouldn't this picture be the cutest Christmas card?!

black + white artwork | get this look

These large black and white prints are a great way to personalize a space. I have noticed these pieces can be lists of countries, cities or even motivational quotes! Why not make your own and list cities which you have travelled to and loved?
