how to get sparkly nails for tiff

I'm obsessed with sparkles and gold so the two of them together is heavenly. This super easy white and gold glitter manicure will have you twinkling all week with the stars!

What you will need: white nail polish, gold glitter, top coat.

Step 1: Paint two thin coats of white polish on nails and let them dry completely.

 Step 2: Apply top coat (making as straight a line as possible) along the bottom half of the nail.

Step 3: Sprinkle lots of gold glitter on the wet top coat.

Step 4: Using a toothpick or small brush, clean up the area by scraping off extra glitter from the top of the nail and along the finger.

Step 5: Repeat steps 2-4.

Step 6: Once all of the nails are finished, apply topcoat to the entire nail, sealing all of the glitter in.

This is also a great idea for a "going away to college" gift for a friend or your child! Below is a selection of my favourites.

DIY gold leaf easter eggs

I discovered the lovely Freutcake blog today and had to share this gold and colourful DIY Easter egg project! Leah has lots of great ideas and fabulous pictures!

When I was young, we used to always decorate Easter eggs with coloured dye and make fun patterns. Below is the grown up Easter egg decorating project! These eggs would look lovely in large glass bowl or scattered around your Easter Brunch/Dinner table! If you would like some tips on how to make your table look colourful, have a look at my post that was featured at Style at Home!

What you will need:

 - Hard-boiled or blown eggs - dyed

 - Gold leaf glue

 - Gold leaf

 - A small paint brush

Step 1: With dry eggs, apply gold leaf foil glue in desired pattern and allow to dry completely  Glue will turn from milky white to clear and be very tacky to the touch but not wet.

Step 2: With tweezers or fingers, apply pieces of gold leaf to dried glue.

Step 3: Press gold leaf down with fingers. Gently rub gold leaf to smooth and remove excess.

Step 4: When completely finished gently rub entire egg with a paper towel to remove any loose pieces of gold leaf.

Please note: Gold Leafed Easter Eggs are best used for decoration.

DIY gold polka dot mugs

This is a quick and fun DIY to get you through the week! Decorate a mug with a Krylo paint gold leafing pen and bake at 350 degrees. After 30 minutes of baking, let it cool in the oven. I am a huge fan of polka dots but you are welcome to create any design your heart desires! Happy crafting!

DIY gold leaf paper mache bowls

You can never have enough dishes for your jewelry! I found this charming DIY golf leaf bowl project on the Kelli Murray Blog and had to share it with you. Happy crafting!

How to create the bowl

- blow up a few balloons in different sizes

- cut up newspaper into small strips

- with a foam brush, adhere the newspaper to the balloons using the mod podge

- the more layers you slab on, the thicker the bowl will be (the thicker the better!)

- place the balloons upside down inside paper cups and let them dry overnight

- when they are dry, pop the balloons and remove all the rubber

- cut away at the edges on the bowls to make them smooth

- paint the bowls a colour of your choice (it might take a few coats)

- let it dry completely before moving forward

- to create a polka dot pattern, buy sticker dots and place them how you like on the bowl

- brush on Golf Leaf Adhesive evenly all over the bowl (use just enough to cover the surface)

- carefully place sheets of Gold Leaf all over the inside of the bowl

- brush on with a paint brush 

- the thinner the better

- carefully remove each sticker

- seal the bowl with Gold Leaf Sealer

Gold accents can instantly add so much elegance to a bedroom.  With a few tricks, you can make your boudoir glamorous.

This boudoir is completely stunning . . . The Italian gold accents are what truly make this room a place of elegance.  The grays and crisp white sheets give an everlasting comfort and warmth to the room.
